SOB

Apparently Google doesn’t think much of me. I use their excellent Gmail service and the spell checker insists that I am either a “Schlitz” (German for “slit” and other things) or a “Sonuvabitch.” It is either lacking a politeness algorithm or Google seems to know something that I do not… ;-)

Email

Hallo Freunde und Familie,

Hello friends and family,

You probably noticed, that I don’t list my email on this blog. This is to prevent scraping from spammers, which means “mean marketing people stealing nice bloggers emails” in English.

If you want to write Amy or me via email, just use our names like this:

Vorname.Nachname@gmail.com

firstname.lastname@gmail.com

Easy as pie for you, but too complicated for the email collection robots of Mr. Evil Cube-Shaped Pork Product.

Looking forward to your messages.

Peace be with you

My “Peace” is blooming! I only planted it in March and did not even expect a flower, but it was working on a big bud for a week, which finially burst open and bacame this huge rose.

I cut it and put it in a vase after three days. Let’s see if that will motivate her to make another one.

Now it is sitting on my desk and I can not stop smelling it. Hmmmm!

Sleeping on your toes

Young parents often wonder why some kids can just sleep anywhere and if you can train them that way. Before I became a dad, I assumed that you had to keep absolutely quiet and take a vow of silence, but the opposite is a better way.

Young Parent Tip #1: When the baby sleeps, go on with your life. You’ll spare yourself the worries and nervous breakdowns when the neighbour rings the doorbell or daughter’s brass band is coming over for a spontaneous visit. Kids who are used to a certain noise level when snoozing have much less (sleeping) problems with everyday life around them.

A Rose for Mother's Day

Hallo liebe Mutti!

Dein Sohn.

Hello dearest Mother!

Just for you, here’s my first rose bloom from my new garden. Have a nice Mother’s Day!

Your Son-in-Law.
