Desert Impressions

The photos from the cliff by our house were well received. Here a short series with more landscape images from the reservation:

Halloween Update

Here is the pumpkin pie I made from the insides of our Halloween pumpkin. It turned out tastier than I hoped for!

This was not my first pie, though. Amy had told me a while ago, that I would not be a real house spouse, unless I can bake a pie. I came back with a double crust cherry pie. Kirin helped me with preparing and baking it, so she got credit on top of the pie, too.

Halloween

Of course, Kai had to go to bed with his Batman outfit on, but decided against the mask sometime during the night.

We survived the first Halloween in our new Home, as we were warned beforehand about the rush of costumed Navajo kids. In the end, it was about equal to Halloween in Mesa, where kids from the surrounding rural areas are also carted over by the van and truck load. The only difference in Jeddito was that half of the trick-or-treaters adressed us by our name…

Didgy was all frenzied about these hordes of kids, which, to top it all, had to run around in her yard, too.

Zur allgemeinen Geisterlaune, ein passendes Spielchen.

A fitting game for the ghostly mood.

Kirin, who was fittingly dressed up as princèss, had lots of fun with designing the Jack’O’Lantern (top of picture) and was too busy with her sweet loot and plunder to also pose for Daddy’s picture. When I emptied the pumkin, I carefully seperated the seeds and good pulp from the slime strings. The seeds were oven roasted with butter and some salt, the pulp will soon be made into the traditional and beloved pumpkin pie.

Doll House
