I have been writing code ever since I first saw an 8-bit home computer in 6th grade (1985). Today I mainly do full-stack web development, but also like writing apps for Mac and Linux. My favorite languages are Python, Go, Swift, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

I enjoy explaining technical concepts to non-geeks and showing what’s going on under the hood.

In my free time I visit cool museums, hone my photography, and lose against my kids in video games.

Senior Full-Stack Developer at GovRecover (Oct 2025 - present)

GovRecover helps people recover unclaimed property - funds owed to them but held by state governments (forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payouts, and similar) - by locating claims and handling the filing process to return that money to its rightful owners.

  • Added custom tooling and DX improvements for isolated agentic cloud dev workflows using frontier and open-weight models
  • Full ownership of new services in mono-repo, e.g. address completion & validation, DocuSign integration adapter
  • 8 times faster property data transform (ETL) after rewrite to Rust (also tested Go and Zig)

Freelancing on Upwork (2024 - Nov 2025)

  • SaaS platform with Python and NestJS backends to help investigate financial crimes
  • Multiple LLM and vision AI models process bank statement PDFs into structured data

Internal ETA Dashboard for Coverland

  • Used no-code/low-code (Retool/Supabase) to quickly stand up an inventory-tracking dashboard
  • Integrated with existing PostgreSQL databases, SKULabs, and Excel spreadsheets

Senior Backend Developer at Afloat (2023 - 2024)

Afloat is a local gifting app (B2C) and a Shopify marketplace for local businesses (B2B).

  • New REST API and Shopify integration cut manual steps in half
  • Reduced sign-up steps for new businesses by 80%
  • Reused 50-60% of existing custom Go backend framework
  • Added Swagger UI and endpoint documentation (zero API docs existed)
  • Sentry instrumentation reduced log output by 60%

Senior Full-Stack Developer, Material (formerly LRW) (2018 - 2023)

Transformed the Yamaha Motor website to an AWS backend with a Next.js (React) frontend:

  • Selected UI component and styling framework to speed up initial frontend development
  • Translated Figma designs into React Storybook to keep fast iterations going
  • Storybook doubled as living design/styling documentation to keep branding consistent
  • Storybook cut time from design to implemented UI change by 50%
  • Created REST API endpoints and backend integrations in a Django backend (Python)
  • Reduced deployment times for AWS infrastructure

Maintained the Touchpoint Dashboard project acquired from Strativity:

  • Django web app with React frontend hosted on AWS
  • Maintained the platform until the decision to sunset the product
  • Planned and executed the shutdown of 100% of the AWS infrastructure
  • Executed deletion after legal decided to discard 100% of user data
